Fresh Finds: Garden-inspired Green Paint Palettes

Spring is finally here, and that means folks are gearing up for their next big outdoor project. With that in mind, we took our inspiration straight from the garden and picked the freshest Sherwin-Williams green paint samples. Whether you update a door, introduce an accent wall or bathe an entire room, these green paint colors bring a bit of the outdoors in.

Sweet Greens

Bright cheerful green paint inspiration boards with cool green stairs, acid green double doors and a key lime pie.
Punch up your décor with a dose of attention-grabbing bright green paint. The playful design on the staircase risers—a combination of Sherwin-Williams Frosted Emerald SW 9035 and Stay in Lime SW 9032—transforms an often overlooked surface into a graphic focal point. Make a grand entrance even more stunning with a color that lives up to its name: Center Stage SW 6920. The cheerful hue is sure to put you in a good mood! Inspiration can come from anywhere, including a mouth-watering slice of key lime pie. A swatch of Sherwin-Williams Stay in Lime shows the versatility of the hue.

Muted Greens

Sherwin Williams green paint color swatches in light and airy pastel greens including baby bok choy, pistachio and mint condition.
Muted, pastel green paint is a beautiful choice for any room in the house. Sherwin-Williams Baby Bok Choy SW 9037 has a foodie name, but imagine this relaxing hue in a spa-like master suite! Laid-back and stylish, this living room’s walls are painted in Mint Condition SW 6743, a pastel green that imparts a beach cottage vibe. Last but not least on the light-green spectrum is Oh Pistachio 9033. The darkest of the three colors, Oh Pistachio is equally at home in a mid-century space or as a way to breathe new life into an old piece of furniture.

Grassy Green

Grassy green kitchen, Sherwin Williams Houseplant green paint color swatch, and a modern living room with a houseplant green accent wall
Pick a “plant based” green paint and bring a bit of the outdoors into your space. The heart of the home gets the leafy Hearts of Palm SW 6415 treatment. Charcoal-gray cabinets and an off-white coffered ceiling complement the walls and balance this bold hue. Quite possibly the purest grass-green, Sherwin-Williams Houseplant SW 6727 invokes lazy summer days in the best possible way. It’s an accent wall’s best friend as well, making the abstract art pop in this contemporary space.

Earthy Greens

Three green paint swatches acacia haze, leafy kale and saguaro sherwin williams paint
Earthy does not mean bland, and this trio of green paint swatches are anything but boring. The softness of the Acacia Haze SW 9132 makes it a wonderful candidate for laundry rooms or mudrooms, and it would look equally at home on cabinets as it does walls. Update a man cave or home office with a fresh coat of Kale Green SW 6460, or drench a sitting room or covered porch in the totally lush Saguaro SW 6419.

Extra Credit: Choose an environmentally-friendly paint for interior projects. Sherwin-Williams Harmony paint is a zero VOC formula that helps reduce common indoor odors from pets, cooking and smoke to help rooms stay fresher, longer. It also helps improve indoor air quality by reducing VOC levels from potential sources like carpet, cabinets and fabrics, and gives your walls a washable, durable finish. For a budget-friendly option, Sherwin-Williams Eco Select zero VOC paint is a smart choice. It meets the most stringent environmental requirements and delivers a uniform final appearance.

Frame Your View with Stylish Window Treatments

Whether it’s a big city skyline or an idyllic nature scene, a gorgeous view is without a doubt priceless. And while we’re big fans of unadorned windows, stylish window treatments and coordinating décor only increase the beauty of a JELD-WEN window. We chose three different windows and dressed them up to complement the surrounding décor and frame that stunning view.

Modern Farmhouse

Idea board for modern farmhouse kitchen window treatments, featuring white cotton curtains and iron hardware.

The modern farmhouse look has surpassed simply being trendy and has taken its rightful place among classic decorating styles. From the white shiplap to the smooth marble countertops, this kitchen is an ideal space to build on that look. For the wood casement windows, dark interior finishes like Chestnut Bronze or black for the grille—shown here in the six-lite Colonial style—offer contrast to the bright, light-filled space. Simple window treatments like the Lindstrom white cotton curtains from Crate & Barrel filter light and add subtle texture. Pair the curtains with iron hardware for dimension and complete the look with a trio of mini pendants over the sink, like the Sandy Springs style from Wayfair.

Bold Outlook

A modern idea board for floor to ceiling bedroom window treatments. Floral pattern curtains, solid cellular shades and a complementary polished aluminum light fixture.

Ready to break all those “small space” rules? Floor-to-ceiling custom wood casement windows bring instant drama into this subtle bedroom, offering lots of light and endless styling opportunities. Light-filtering cellular shades are an easy way to invite color into a space. Shown here in Cosmopolitan Chipotle, Bali’s DiamondCell shade insulates and provides privacy without sacrificing style.

But wait, there’s more! Consider a layered look and introduce a patterned curtain to make a bold statement with your window treatments. This magnolia curtain from Anthropologie is made from a light cotton slub, which won’t darken the room or weigh down the overall look. Top off the room with an oversize light fixture, like the polished aluminum Donna pendant from Schoolhouse Electric & Supply Co.

Cozy Loft

Idea board for window treatments in a cozy loft apartment. Includes a black leather chair, chandelier and modern sliding shade panels.

Big windows, open floor plans and high ceilings—don’t let the grand scale of a loft dictate the level of coziness you can create. This custom wood single-hung arch top window deserves to be seen, but when privacy is in order go for minimal coverage like these fabric sliding panels. A cozy space isn’t complete without a spot for curling up with a good book or cup of coffee, right? This low-profile Equestrian Chair from Schoolhouse Electric features broken-in leather for a well-worn look, while a nailhead trim keeps the piece classic. Round out the space with a light fixture that imparts a warm glow, like the Sola 36 Chandelier from Design Within Reach. The handcrafted aluminum canopy and hand-blown glass globes are a stunning mod-meets-vintage mashup, and add a slice of sleekness to the space.

Instant Upgrade: Colorful Doors for Indoors and Out

A door is much more than an entryway. It’s a design statement and part of the bigger picture of what makes your house a home, so let your personality shine through with colorful doors. Whether you love spring-y pastels, amped-up primary colors, or the subdued hues we’re calling “new neutrals,” it’s time to take the color wheel for a spin.

JELD-WEN doors have multiple paint options available. If you’ve got DIY plans, have your door delivered primed and ready to paint. Take your pick of dozens of standard prepainted color choices—or choose a custom color—and leave the work to us.

Watercolor Pastels

When simple, clean lines meet dramatic, sharp-edged design, the result is the TRIA Collection L-Series. Shown here in cucumber, this TRIA Collection L-Series composite door complements the décor of the adjacent sitting area and pairs perfectly with the rug for a look that transitions easily from room to room.

Make a modern and welcoming first impression with a Studio Collection exterior door. The Caribbean blue hue complements the home’s blue-gray shiplap for a decidedly oceanside vibe, and the pattern on each door keeps it simple with clean, crisp lines.

If you’re ready to bring in a big splash of color, you can’t go wrong with the Corvado Smooth molded wood composite door style. This handsome door gives depth and detail to rich colors—like this brilliant sky blue—thanks to the plank panel design.

JELD-WEN colorful doors. Bright white modern kitchen with blue-gray backsplash and translucent door framed in lime green

The MODA Collection of interior doors boasts 21 designs that can be customized with solid panels, clear or translucent glass, or mirror panels. Framed in a cheerful lime green, this colorful translucent glass door softens the space, offers privacy, and lends a dose of color in a crisp white kitchen. It’s a great choice for anyone who isn’t quite ready to go wild with color.

The New Neutrals

Give your bedroom a sophisticated entryway with a pair of MODA Collection solid panel doors. When painted in a rich new neutral like this slate blue, the double doors become a new take on an accent wall.

JELD-WEN colorful doors. Pretty light filled kitchen with soft blue walls and a deep green Craftsman door

The Craftsman III molded door style continues the unadorned, aesthetically-balanced style created more than a century ago. The traditional look becomes modern in a deep forest green hue, making it a focal point of this simple and stylish dining room.

An entryway can showcase the home or complement its overall style. The contemporary Studio Collection integrates accent details into a smooth fiberglass surface panels to create five distinct door styles. Engraved lines, clean and crisp, create a two-tone shadow effect no matter what color you choose, making the Studio Collection exterior door a perfect canvas for this leafy green hue.

The International Builders’ Show is the premiere event for builders all around the world. Hosted by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the show brings together stakeholders, experts and thought leaders. As part of the JELD-WEN experience for 2018, we are featuring the Scott Brothers in our booth on January 10. The Scott Brothers, Drew and Jonathan, are the stars of several HGTV hit shows, where they share stories of home ownership, renovating and design.

About Drew and Jonathan

Drew and Jonathan started their careers in the home building industry when they were just 18, buying and flipping houses in their native Canada. By their mid-20s, they had built a successful real estate and design business. Both had interests and success in acting and performing, which led to them being approached to launch a home design show.

Their HGTV shows have made the Scott Brothers sought after design experts. They have a great pulse on what’s trending in home design as well as how to execute it. Their keen style and ability to take once dated, worn houses and turn them into warm, modern homes is part of their success.

In addition to their TV careers, Drew and Jonathan have a lifestyle brand Scott Brothers Global, which includes Scott Living. Scott Living produces indoor and outdoor furniture and decor collections, available at many national retailers.

In September of 2017, the Scott Brothers published their memoir, It Takes Two: Our Story, which has landed on multiple best seller lists.

Welcome to the Millworker

JELD-WEN is excited to launch our new blog, The Millworker. We put a lot of care and thought into the design and content for this blog. We strive to create content this relevant, informative and interesting. The content should inspire ideas and educate our readers on the world of windows and doors. You’ll find blogs related to popular styles like Modern Craftsman and Farmhouse. We also have several series of blogs like Windows 101 and Doors 101. We’ll be sharing content on features and benefits of windows and doors like energy efficiency and glass options as well.

This blog is as much about the future of windows and doors as it is about their history. We like telling stories around windows and doors. They are much more than functional parts of a house or building. They add character and are an opportunity to express your style.

With The Millworker, we are going back to our roots. That’s where the JELD-WEN story began, in a single millwork plant in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Beginning with just 15 employees, that one plant grew into a global leader in the window and door industries with more than 20,000 associates and 120 manufacturing facilities in 19 countries.

We look forward to sharing many great stories with you. Thanks for reading. Subscribe to receive alerts when new blogs publish. And if you enjoy what you’re reading, please share it.
